László Dubrovai: Váltságdíj (Ransom)
We recommend this opera to both connoisseurs and 'opera-virgins'. The opera takes place in the present day, in a small country where the prime minister first gets into the firing line of women as head of state; while later he is attacked as a man –by the public.
"Again, it is necessary to compose music which has melody, rhythm dynamics, tone and colour. Then, it might become possible to compose arias, duets, etc., and the characters will have real traits, emotions, thoughts, wit and then, maybe, besides all this the music could be NICE too?!" (Dubrovay)
László Vidovszky: Nárcisz és Echó (Narcissus and Echo)
A tale about excessive narcissism, when we turn the weapon against ourselves.
Narcissus was the embodiment of beauty, who was adored by all men and women. He had no romantic interest in anyone until he saw his own reflection in the river. He fell in love with his own image and this was to prove his downfall.
This classic story has a new interpretation and is brought to the stage in the form of an opera directed by Szilárd Somogyi. With a score by the Kossuth prize winning composer László Vidovszky, whoever buys a ticket to this performance will find an exciting and stimulating musical experience.
